Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden

Professor Dr. Fabio Marchesoni of the Universita' di Camerino (Italy) is honored with the A.v. Humboldt Reseach Award in recognition for his key contributions to the theory of Stochastic Resonance. He in addition he pioneered the role of noise in the nucleation phenomena of extended defects, including solitons and dislocations in solids and, as well, inspired the design of the antenna for the detection of gravitational waves (Virgo Project), now starting operation. During his stay in Germany he will undertake research aimed at applying stochastic methods to the design, operation and the control of biology inspired nanodevices
